Quest of Sages is a multidisciplinary project inspired by a journey to photograph one person from every country in the world. Each person photographed for the project is asked to paint a line across a piece of blank paper. Their portrait is later printed on top of their painting. Once all 197 countries are completed, the images will be displayed as an installation by placing the portraits next to each other and connecting the line segments together, ultimately creating one unbroken line the entire world painted. Highlighting this single line painted by the world, the project is contextualized by wisdom and information gathered from the cultures encountered along the way. The message is simple, yet powerful. We are one. Quest of Sages serves as a reminder of global unity, breaking down the notion of borders and barriers. By partnering with local organizations along the way, the project addresses the global issue of cultural preservation in a modernizing world through its use of innovative storytelling and collaboration with the arts.
