Mal-illumination silently contributes to many adverse health issues and some are quite serious — obesity, depression, fatigue, sleep & eating disorders as well as breast, prostate and colon cancer.
Like malnutrition, mal-illumination causes deficiencies by depriving us of the sun’s vital ‘energetic nutrient’ wavelengths which enter the body through the eyes and skin. Sunlight striking the skin manufactures natural vitamin D while light entering the eyes regulates vital circadian rhythms that control appetite, energy, mood, sleep, libido, and other body-mind functions.
There's a little known "contemporary epidemic" that’s been progressively wreaking havoc with both physical and mental health. Now, COVID 19 is about to exacerbate this epidemic exponentially.
The progressive shift, (primarily) to an indoor life style over the years, has unwittingly contributed to a serious uptick of body and mind dis-ease that's passively impacting public health.
Modern indoor lighting and devices such as video screens can be detrimental to one's immunity response. They do not supply the correct wavelengths of light that are essential to naturally regulate brain chemistry and often have photobiotic qualities that tend to compromise immunity.
Being stuck in “biological darkness” due to reduced time in appropriate natural light (that our genes are programmed to respond to), profoundly affects every body system. Modern humans (in developed nations) do not spend enough time in full-spectrum sunlight that augments immunity and spend too much time indoors under unhealthy, limited-spectrum light that adversely impacts immunity.
Interestingly, the photobiology pioneer, Dr. John Ott, coined the term “mal-illumination” to describe this contemporary epidemic akin to malnutrition. Unwittingly, millions suffer from obesity, depression, sleeplessness, and many other maladies that could potentially benefit by simply absorbing sufficient sunlight or a suitable replacement.
Can you help give this silent epidemic a voice?
