Promising Practices: Barriers and Bright Spots

The Corporate Day at the 2013 Global Pro Bono Summit kicked off with participants sharing their bright spots, a promising practice they brought to the table from their pro bono programs.

Each table chose the bright spot they were most inspired by to present back to the larger group. Leaders from Netsuite, LinkedIn, Google, Bain, and American Express formed this “Pop Up Panel.”

The leaders also discussed solutions to challenges.  From how to inspire middle management, partner with human resources, scale with limited bandwidth, or measurement impact, groups worked through common challenges together.

Bright Spot: Net Suite

The Summit provided an exciting opportunity to share details of our new NetSuite program, SuiteVolunteers, where 50 employees fulfilled projects for 22 organizations this quarter! SuiteVolunteers follows a non-traditional quarterly model that our team developed to be able to scale the program as our employee population grows.

Each quarter, our grantees (charities and social enterprises who receive a donation of our product) can apply for pro bono from a menu of options. The NetSuite.org team matches them with Employee Volunteers and together they complete the project. I hope that sharing this model and our lessons learned at the summit helped inspire other organizations to try similar programs.  – Erin Dieterich
