Does the idea of tapping into your talents to tackle big picture problems sound exciting to you? Well, it sounded exciting to 26 MasterCard employees and 16 nonprofit leaders who were selected to participate in today’s MasterCard Pro Bono Challenge. The Pro Bono Challenge is a unique one day event where representatives from select community organizations partner with MasterCard subject matter experts to address specific organizational needs in areas such as strategy, marketing, and financial management.
Why the MasterCard Pro Bono Challenge Matters
Part of MasterCard’s ongoing effort to partner with nonprofits to build capacity in the social sector through pro bono service, Thursday’s event will have a general focus on issues surrounding women and girls in technology. Project teams consisting of MasterCard volunteers and nonprofit leaders will spend the day tackling capacity challenges facing participating organizations, with the goal of leaving each nonprofit with a clear and workable solution that can be implemented to address areas of need.
In our programming, Taproot has seen the one day marathon model generate great results for participants, and we know that today’s event is no exception. We are excited to be part of the MasterCard Pro Bono Challenge and to see the impact MasterCard professionals will have on participating organizations. We know this day will be a huge success for all the employees and nonprofits who come together to participate. We look forward to joining Gateway to Entrepreneurship (G2E), Girls Who Code, MOUSE, Per Scholas, and YMCA at MasterCard for this special event!
