Bridging the Leadership Gap with Pro Bono Service

It’s widely recognized that the demands placed on corporate leaders are changing, and they’re changing fast. Today’s leadership demands a new level of agility and the critical ability to adapt to a broader set of responsibilities. Pro bono service has emerged as a highly effective approach to developing leaders in today’s unique landscape.

On Friday, October 24th, Taproot Foundation and CEB joined forces in Washington, DC to present a special session on this subject, “Bridging the Leadership Gap in the New Work Environment.”  This half-day session, attended by leadership development experts and corporate responsibility professionals, sought to answer the key question: How can we better equip leaders for today’s new work environment through pro bono opportunities?

Specifically, we discussed:

  • How developing leaders is fundamentally changing in the new work environment
  • How pro bono provides different-in-kind opportunities for leadership development
  • How to design, implement, and measure a best-in-class pro bono leadership development program

We’re eager to share more with the field on this popular emerging topic – and there’s certainly much more to share. We’re currently at work developing new resources exploring the connection between pro bono and developing modern leaders. As you consider if pro bono might be right for your company, we’ll make sure you’re up to speed on the latest research, ideas, and best practices. Stay tuned as we share more on pro bono as a leadership development strategy in the coming months.
