Asking for (pro bono) help has never been so easy

Helpouts with Taproot FoundationIf you??e ever renovated anything, you know it?? one thing to buy a DIY book and quite another to actually DIY. There?? always something that doesn?? quite flow like it did in the diagrams!

But what if you could get the author to come walk you through it? Say, Stephen Hawking to help you build that scale model of a black hole? No matter the size of your project, getting someone to walk you through it is always better??r at least quicker??han what you can do on your own.

Now, with Helpouts, Google?? new marketplace for getting and giving personalized help over live video, you can solve all sorts of DIY problems, from installing a dishwasher to booking a flight. (Stephen Hawking, however, has yet to materialize as a Helpouts expert.)

We were struggling to finish our annual report when we read about Taproot?? pro bono coaching on Helpouts. To get an outside expert’s perspective to ensure that EBAYC truly captures and honors all of its supporters and work was critical.
-Nhi Chau, Deputy Director of Strategic Development, EBAYC
In the Taproot Foundation?? world, this changes everything! We bring professional services to nonprofits, pro bono??ut it?? hard to get everyone the help they need, when they need it. Now, we can give nonprofits the live 1:1 coach they need to ask an expert about topics ranging from website analytics, brand strategy, and copy editing to change management, project management and team building. It?? pro bono in an instant??nd that?? pretty powerful.

How does it work? Taproot Foundation offers pro bono coaching sessions to nonprofits led by experienced professionals in their fields. Find a timeslot that?? convenient for you, and right from your office you??l be able to ask pressing questions of a seasoned professional and move your project forward.

And it works. East Bay Asian Youth Center (EBAYC) in San Francisco learned about Helpouts, signed up and had 3 sessions with a ??tephen Hawking??of copyediting, Randy Kershner. EBAYC is dedicated to inspiring young people to be lifelong builders of a just and compassionate multicultural society. They develop and strengthen strong community support networks so that children and their families can flourish. They needed clear, succinct on-point messaging for their annual report, a key marketing piece for any nonprofit to report success, and to develop new funding channels and strategic partnerships. Additionally, it was especially important that EBAYC’s production was an achievement as it would be its first report card since merging with another organization a year ago.

So Randy, an award-winning copywriter with 15+ years??experience, having worked with multiple nonprofit clients before, knew what questions to ask in order to refine the annual report?? messaging so that EBAYC could produce a report that was just as strong as the stories behind it.

Taproot Foundation?? pro bono coaching on Helpouts is a new way we are reaching nonprofits anywhere in the world. Why DIY on key organizational challenges when you can bring on experienced professionals to coach you through the rough spots?
